We’re recruiting a Tax Director for a growing boutique firm in Sydney. With a varied client base, hybrid working and a pathway to equity, this opportunity suits an experienced tax professional looking to combine technical leadership with a greater stake in a firm’s future.
You’ll play a senior role in client relationships, guide the delivery of tax services and contribute to the firm’s continued growth.
About the role
You’ll work closely with clients to understand their circumstances, oversee complex tax matters and provide clear, commercially considered advice. Alongside your client responsibilities, you’ll support the team’s development and contribute to the direction of the practice.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading tax engagements across a varied client portfolio.
- Providing technical guidance on complex tax issues and reviewing advice prepared by the team.
- Building strong client relationships and acting as a senior point of contact.
- Overseeing the quality and timely delivery of tax work.
- Mentoring team members and supporting their technical and professional development.
- Identifying opportunities to expand existing client relationships and develop new business.
- Contributing to practice improvements, business planning and the firm’s growth.

Salary of $190,000–$220,000 + super

About you
You’re an experienced tax professional who combines technical expertise with sound commercial judgement. You enjoy building client relationships, developing people and taking responsibility for the quality of advice your team delivers.
You’ll bring:
- Significant tax experience within public practice or a professional services environment.
- Strong technical knowledge and experience managing complex tax matters.
- A track record of leading client engagements and building trusted relationships.
- Experience reviewing work, mentoring colleagues and supporting team performance.
- Clear communication skills and the ability to explain complex advice practically.
- An interest in business development and contributing to a growing firm.
- The ambition to pursue an equity opportunity.
You may already be operating at Director level or be ready to step into a broader leadership position.
